The problem with most business websites
Plenty of companies have a website that was built a few years ago, that nobody quite knows how to update, and that brings in few or no enquiries. It is not broken, but it is not working either. The copy describes the company instead of answering the customer’s questions, it is slow on a phone, and nobody knows which pages actually lead to a call or an email.
The cause is rarely bad design. More often the site was treated as a project with an end date. The agency delivered, invoiced and moved on. Then the site stood still while the business, its customers and Google kept changing.
What a good business website looks like
A website that earns its keep has a few things in common, whatever the industry:
- Visitors understand within seconds what you do, who it is for and what to do next.
- Every service or product has its own page, written in the words customers actually search for.
- It loads fast, works as well on mobile as on desktop, and is usable by everyone.
- You can change text and images yourself without calling anyone.
- Someone follows up on how it performs and keeps improving it.
That last point is the one most often missing, and it is where our model differs.
How we approach website development
We do not just build a site and hand over the keys. The work follows the same steps every time, and the last ones repeat for as long as we work together.
- Call and current-state review. We go through your business, your customers and your current site. If you already have one, you can start with the free audit on our homepage.
- Structure and keywords. We work out which pages you need and which questions each page should answer, based on how your customers search on Google and in AI assistants.
- Content. We write or edit the copy together with you. Good copy is usually what decides whether a visitor gets in touch.
- Design and development. We design and build the site with a focus on speed, clarity and accessibility. You get a content management system so you can edit it yourself.
- Launch. We move the domain, redirect old addresses so you keep your Google rankings, and check that everything works.
- Measure, learn, improve. Every month we look at how the site is used, propose changes and make them.
If you are weighing up platforms, we have written about choosing between WordPress, Shopify and custom code.
What drives cost and timeline in web development
We do not publish fixed prices, because two business websites are rarely alike. These are the factors that matter most:
| Factor | Lower impact | Higher impact |
|---|
| Scope | A few pages on one template | Many page types and subpages |
| Content | You have finished copy and images | We write everything and source imagery |
| Design | Adapted template | Fully custom design |
| Languages | One language | Several languages with their own URLs |
| Integrations | Contact form | Booking, CRM, payments or a custom system |
| Decision-making | One contact person | Many people who need to approve |
The timeline depends on the same things. What most often delays a project is not development but waiting for content and decisions. For a fuller breakdown, see What does a website cost?.
We can keep prices lower than a typical Swedish agency because development is done by our own team in Nha Trang, Vietnam. Customer contact is handled by Swedish founders, in Swedish or English.
After launch: the monthly cycle
This is where most websites stop and where our work carries on. Every month we:
- Measure how visitors move through the site, using analytics without cookies and without personal data. No cookie banner is needed and no third-party trackers are loaded.
- Learn which pages lead to enquiries and where visitors drop off.
- Improve copy, structure and performance based on that.
- Maintain updates, backups, SSL and security.
The result is a website that gets better over time. If you need more later, such as an online store or help with marketing, it is available from the same partner.
Almano, another agency, or doing it yourself?
There are several ways to get a business website, and not all of them suit everyone.
Building it yourself in a site builder is a good, cheap way to get started. The downside is that copy, SEO, security and follow-up are all on you, and that takes time away from running the business.
A traditional web agency often delivers a good project, but the work usually ends at launch. Every later change becomes a new quote.
Almano suits you if you want one partner who builds, runs and improves the site over time, at a lower price than a typical Swedish agency. We are a young company, founded in 2025, so we do not have a long list of references. What we do have are live sites you can look at yourself.
Example: nystarten.se
For nystarten.se in Trollhättan, Sweden, we built a 40-page campaign site around a promise tracker, where every election pledge is published with its status. The site has candidate pages, chronicles and a quiz, and the client edits everything in a CMS we built. It shows how we think: structure around what visitors want to know, and full control for the client.
